Beskrivning av samhällsfrågan

What can those who risk their lives to protect Europe tell us about the strength and fragility of life? Ukrainian veterans fight for their families and the future of Europe – how can they reconcile their experiences through the written word, and what can we learn from them?

Utökad information om evenemanget

In this seminar we meet Ukrainan veterans from the YMCA Lviv programme and hear their stories. Many are civilians who left their jobs and way of life to defend their families and country. Among them are many artists, teachers, and activists who, having participated in the war for freedom, have unique experiences and insights about life and death. When veterans have the chance to express themselves, their experience can become a shared asset rather than a personal trauma. What opportunities does art-rehabilitation through literature offer for veterans? How does cooperation with veterans from Scandinavian countries shape the identity of the Defenders of Europe, and what opportunities does a European veterans’ network provide?
