Beskrivning av samhällsfrågan

Activities at sea generate large amounts of data that help to identify risks, protect infrastructure, and improve environmental monitoring. Data sharing raises questions about security, confidentiality, and governance. How can we strengthen security and cooperation among actors through data sharing?

Utökad information om evenemanget

The development of sensors, autonomous systems, and offshore infrastructure is generating large volumes of data collected by both public and private actors. These technologies often have dual-use applications and can support environmental and security-related monitoring as well as operational activities. In Sweden, however, this potential remains largely underutilized. One reason is that issues related to data access, ownership, and use remain unclear. At the same time, international experiences suggest that improved secure data sharing can create opportunities for collaboration between civilian and security stakeholders. The seminar will be conducted in English and is organized within the framework of two research projects. Mistra Co-Creating Better Blue (C2B2), which explores how collaboration can strengthen ocean governance, and SAFEWIN, funded by Formas, which examines how dual-use technologies can contribute to secure data sharing and the protection of energy infrastructure.
