    With USAID funding suspended, Ukraine is at a crossroads in securing international financial support. Sweden, as a leader in sustainable development and democratic resilience, has a unique opportunity to step in through SIDA and other strategic mechanisms.

    This discussion will focus on how Sweden and Ukraine can transition from donor-recipient relations to a full-fledged partnership in reconstruction, economic resilience, and democratic reforms. It will also explore ways to enhance sanctions against Russia and ensure their enforcement. Key Questions: 1. Can Sweden take the lead in replacing USAID with SIDA funding for Ukraine’s critical sectors? 2. What long-term economic and reconstruction strategies should Sweden and Ukraine develop together? 3.     The Russian war against Ukraine made the Ukrainian local communities adapt to new challenges rapidly. In this regard, the partnership between the local governments and civil society is exceptionally crucial to meet the needs of the people and ensure their participation in post-war reconstruction.

    The event will focus on the key elements and priorities of sustainable collaboration between civil society organisations and local governments in the context of long-term challenges caused by war. Additionally, the event will serve as a platform for presenting the “Unity for Community” project to the public and key stakeholders, facilitating the alignment of project goals, and encouraging active participation. Objectives: 1. Discuss key challenges in sustainable cooperation between the civil sector and local authorities, identify possible solutions, and outline further directions for collaboration, from crisis management to strategic cooperation 2.
