Beskrivning av samhällsfrågan
Can new decentralized EnergyNet systems help Sweden catch up in the climate transition while strengthening competitiveness and regional development?
Utökad information om evenemanget
The global transition to electrified societies is accelerating rapidly, but many countries are struggling to scale sustainable energy systems fast enough to meet climate goals and remain competitive. This seminar explores whether decentralized EnergyNet systems — built around smart microgrids, local energy sharing and distributed renewable energy — could become an “expansion vehicle” for the transition to sustainable societies. Special focus will be given to the emerging Energy Valley initiative around the Scandinavian Bay Area and its potential to position Sweden as a leading international hub for electrification, sustainable infrastructure and next-generation energy innovation. The discussion explores how collaboration between universities, cities, industry and energy actors could strengthen competitiveness, attract investment and accelerate sustainable regional development.

Marc Weiss, Professor, Founder and CEO of Global Urban Development and special advisor to the Energy Valley effort.
