Democracy can never be taken for granted. Both Sweden and Ukraine must safeguard or establish platforms where differing views can be shared and debated – to maintain and develop spaces where representatives of power can engage with the diverse interests and needs of citizens.

Welcome to a seminar that highlights the importance of creating arenas for democratic dialogue – in times of both war and peace. We will present experiences from Sweden and Almedalen Week, together with the Ukrainian organisation Carpathian Sea Democracy Week.
